Anthony Merifield
Anthony's Civil Service career began as a member of the Kenya Administration and then, two years after Kenyan Independence, continued in “Whitehall”. There he was mainly in the Department of Health/Social Security, but with a secondment to Northern Ireland and some ten years in Cabinet Office.
Since he retired he has been Church Warden of a local church, and currently he is Chairman of Centre 70, an Advice and Counselling Centre in south Lambeth, and Chairman of King’s College Hospital Charity. Most recently he became Chairman also of the Association of NHS Charities.
Caroline Hewitt
Caroline Hewitt was appointed Chair of Lambeth PCT in April 2007. She read French Studies at Manchester University (1982 -1986).
Caroline is a Trustee of King's College Hospital Charity and member of the Audit Committee of VSO UK. She is also a member of PPC and Finance Committee at her local church and is a Fair trade campaigner.
Prior to joining Lambeth PCT, Caroline was a Non-Executive Director of King’s College Hospital from August 2003. Her role there included Chair of the Audit Committee and Vice Chair of the Board.
Her first career was in finance in the NHS, which she joined straight from university as a graduate trainee. She left the NHS in 2001 and her subsequent work has been in the voluntary sector.
Caroline’s commitment to public service and the values which underpin it can be demonstrated by a working life spent in the public and voluntary sectors. Since she was a student, she has been engaged in voluntary activities within her community.
Linda Smith
Linda is an organisation development consultant and leadership coach, and a Director of Change Fx Consulting. She works with clients across national and local government and the NHS.
Until 2006 Linda chaired the South East London Strategic Health Authority and was a Chair in the NHS in South East London of both Trusts and Health Authorities for 13 years.
She has recently been the independent Chair of the Transformation Partnership Board, overseeing the integration of community services with Guys and St Thomas Foundation Trust.
Her leisure interests include long distance walking and she is on her 3rd crossing of Europe.
John Beck
John is the Chairman of the Trustees’ Investment Sub-Committee.
He is, at present, a Co Director of the International Fixed Income Board of Franklin Templeton Investment Management Ltd. For the last six years John has also been a Trustee of the Company’s UK Pension Scheme. Prior to this he was with the Saudi International Bank.
John has a Masters in PPE from Exeter College, Oxford.
He lives in South East London with his wife – who is a Consultant Chest Physician with The Lewisham Hospital NHS Trust – and their three children.
