Donate Now; Regular Gift
Three easy steps
Give to King's, Make the Difference
It's easy to either set up a regular donation or make a single gift; your support will make the difference to so many lives. While donations to specific areas and ward funds are appreciated, it is the unrestricted gifts that allow the Charity to support those patient areas of the Hospital that need it most.
Spencer’s story
In March 2004 Spencer was involved in a serious car accident. He was just 14 and his recovery took three years. On admission to King’s College Hospital things didn’t look good. But after five days of highly specialised care in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, Spencer was transferred to a High Dependency Unit on Lion Ward (called The Den), where his therapy began.
Just £7 a month would help with those crucial early hours when someone like Spencer is in a critical condition.
Looking back, Spencer says: “I cannot tell you how much respect these people deserve! I was still unconscious when they began my rehab program. I was at a critical stage in my recovery.” For six weeks during his recovery, no sound came from Spencer’s mouth, which he describes as his “time of silence”. He was given a laptop to help him communicate.
£10 a month can make all the difference to the welfare of someone like Spencer, fighting to recover from a major accident.
“King’s gave me the basis that I needed to go on to further rehab and to maximise my potential recovery. I was treated as an individual, not just as another statistic. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the friends at the Hospital that helped me to this point in my life.” Every week young people with life-changing injuries come through our doors. We must treat them as effectively and compassionately as we can. Please help us.
An exceptionally generous gift of £15 a month would provide a reliable bedrock for our work with people like Spencer, in long-term recovery.
