King's Maxillofacial Unit to feature in new ITV1 series: "Surgery School"

The maxillofacial department at King's College Hospital - which treats serious facial injuries - is to feature in a new ITV1 Series, Surgery School.
Surgery School is a brand new three part series - which broadcasts on ITV1 at 10.35pm on Monday 6, 13 and 20 September. The programme follows the progress of ten high flying trainee surgeons as they take the first steps in their attempt to break into the ranks of the surgical elite.
King's will feature in episode 2 (to be broadcast on Monday 13), as the cameras follow trainee Rose Johns during a three month rotation at the hospitals maxillofacial department. The programme gives an insight into the work of the unit at King’s which treats a wide spectrum of diseases, injuries and defects of the face - including facial disproportion, facial pain, impacted teeth, cysts and tumours.
Every year two thousand young doctors apply to the London School of Surgery for training to become consultants. The trainees featured in the series are among the hundred or so chosen. Of these select few, only a quarter will stay the full course and make it to consultant level.
The series follows the personal stories of all ten trainees and the real life medical dramas they encounter whilst they go through in-depth training to become the surgeons of the future.
