King’s to trial gowns as part of hospital’s commitment to patient dignity
Minister for Health Services Ann Keen MP visited King’s College Hospital on Monday 22nd March to see how new hospital gowns developed by the designer Ben de Lisi, in association with the Department of Health and the Design Council, are set to help improve the dignity of patients whilst in hospital. Patients at King’s will help to trial the new gowns later this year.
Stephanie Ward, who works as a staff nurse on Katherine Monk ward, modelled the new gown for the Minister. She said: “The design is much more practical than the current gowns, which are open at the back and can be difficult to fasten securely. The press studs make fastening and unfastening the gown much easier as well as looking more dignified and comfortable. The patients we showed the new gown to were very impressed, and I am looking foward to seeing them in use on the ward.”
